🌿 Rewired: Where Tech, Equity, and Education Merge

A biweekly newsletter from Collaborative Roots LLCIssue #1 | June 3, 2025

Hi friends,

As the school year winds down (or maybe it already has for you!), we want to THANK YOU. You made it through another year of leading, teaching, co-planning, and showing up for students—especially those often left out of traditional systems.

Rewired is a space to recharge and reimagine. Each issue offers small, meaningful ways to use tech, leadership, and reflection to build more sustainable and inclusive practices. Whether you’re deep in the work or catching your breath on summer break, this space is here for you.

In each newsletter, you’ll get:

  • A tech tip to help “future-you” with next year’s planning.

  • A team insight for reflecting on what worked.

  • A resource or tool for slow summer learning.

Whether you’re a teacher, admin, or education leader, this newsletter is for you. Let’s shift from “compliance” —> “community” and from “burnout” —> “sustainable change”.

Let’s make education more collaborative, connected, and rooted in collectivism.

Embracing AI for the New School Year: Practical Tips

Summer is the perfect time to play with AI at your own pace. You can use it as a starting point, then adjust it to fit your context. Future-you will thank you come August.

  1. Start Small: Don't feel overwhelmed. Pick one or two AI tools that address a specific need (e.g., differentiated reading materials, lesson plan drafting) and explore them during the summer.

  2. Experiment and Play: The best way to learn is by doing. Spend some time experimenting with different AI prompts and features.

  3. Prioritize Inclusion: When exploring AI tools, always consider how they can enhance accessibility and provide equitable learning opportunities for all your students.

  4. Ethical Use: Remember that AI is a tool to assist you, not replace your expertise. Always review AI-generated content for accuracy, bias, and appropriateness. And when school resumes, teach your students about responsible, ethical AI use too.

  5. Professional Development: Look for webinars, online courses, or articles that offer practical guidance on integrating AI into your teaching practice.

👥 Team Insight - Reflect Before You Rest

What Will You Carry Forward? Before you rush to plan for next year, take a breath and take stock.

  • What practices helped your team feel connected this year?

  • What small shift made a big difference?

Use this reflection prompt:

  • What was one moment this year that reminded you why you do this work?

  • How might you build more of those moments into your systems next year?
